Although I’m very close to my desired weight and size, for the last few years I’ve had a bit of a tummy pouch I’ve been wanting to get rid of. Some told me this was from belly dancing. After consulting my sister, she told me it was my diet. She said I should stop eating bread and potato chips. Well, I grew up on chips and had already given up french fries–I mean, I ate fries so much my mother told me I was going to turn into one! I just had to have them with almost every meal. Thankfully, I found a wonderful, healthy substitute: sweet potato fries. I’m just hooked on them! And now I have to give up chips too?? So I gave her an ultimatum. I told her I would lay off the chips and bread, with the exception of Ezekiel bread and whole wheat breads, for one month, and if I saw an improvement in my stomach, then I’d cut out those items from my diet. I’m here to report that while my stomach got flatter over the weeks, I also gained a couple of pounds. Hmmm, how did that happen? Turns out, I’ve been eating more meat, aka, protein, to fill in for the lack of bread. Wow, looks like I found another way to put on some weight!
